Built into a granite bluff atop Mount Royce on the traditional land of the Syilx Okanagan people, Sparkling Hill overlooks the Okanagan Valley and the Okanagan Lake, the perfect backdrop for recharging.
Blending the natural beauty of British Columbia with the relaxing luxury of a four-diamond resort, during the past ten years, we have become known as a luxury resort with a focus on holistic wellness and a goal to nourish our guest’s minds, bodies and souls.
It started with an idea and a great view.
Sparkling Hill was Hans-Peter Mayr’s dream project. Our founder and CEO fell in love with B.C. during his frequent visits to the Okanagan. Mayr, who owns a group of spas and hotels in Austria, was struck by its beauty and realized it would be the perfect place for a health and wellness resort.
Mayr met Mr. Gernot Langes-Swarovski, head of the Swarovski family, the leading name of cut crystal. Mr. Langes-Swarovski believed in the project because of our KurSpa so much that he personally invested $122 million. The resort shines with more than 3.5 million Swarovski crystals encrusted in the walls and ceilings and dripping from fixtures suspended in the air creating a surreal atmosphere. The result is what gave Sparkling Hill its name.
Indulge at KurSpa
Inspired by the European health spas built around aquatic features and experiences and derived from the German word for healing, KurSpa is a uniquely designed water spa that boasts over 100 treatments and therapies.
Repetition of a hot-cold-rest cycle has been used as a holistic remedy for thousands of years. Each temperature in every water feature in KurSpa is intentionally set to heal and energize your body. From the Kneipp water walkway, an indoor serenity pool and hot pool and an outdoor infinity pool, Sparkling Hill encourages simultaneous relaxation and healing as you melt away in our complimentary steams and saunas.
Fine-tune your dining
With fresh menu options and farm-to-table dining, the three restaurant options available ensure that there is something for everyone. There is a complimentary a la carte breakfast and coffee service served daily.
As a gourmet restaurant, PeakFine also offers the option of pairing each course with a selected wine option chosen by our sommeliers. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Gerni’s Farmhouse offers a unique dining experience. This traditional 19th-century Austrian lodge was dismantled piece-by-piece in Austria and rebuilt here. Named after Mr. Gernot Langes-Swarovski, Gerni’s Farmhouse has traditional Austrian Fair.
Barrique and Java is a coffee and pastry house when the day starts. In the evening, it is a cozy cocktail lounge with a selection of wines and light fare, including delicatessens, cheese, charcuterie plates, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
For those who want to indulge in the comfort of their room, our room service options include a selection of specially curated plates meant to be shared and savoured.
Endless Activities
With indoor and outdoor activities scheduled daily, guests can enjoy guided nature walks and enjoy the fresh air and British Columbia’s plant and wildlife. The 25 km of marked trails from the resort include wooded areas, open valleys and lakes. Fitness classes, including Aqua aerobics, yoga stretching, and HIIT workouts, are available and taught by KurSpa Fitness professionals.
