Soaps in Guest Rooms: Renewed, Reused and Recycled
Every day, as guests check out of hotel rooms around the world, thousands of barely used bars of soap are thrown away. In an effort to minimize soap waste at Sparkling Hill Resort, all used bars of soap from guest rooms are packaged and donated to Canadian Food For Children. These bars of soaps are then sanitized, processed, and packaged to be donated to children in need within Canada and also sent overseas.
Sustainable Geothermal System
Sparkling Hill Resort’s hotel sustainability goals are particularly evident in our innovative use of a geothermal system for climate control. By tapping into the Earth’s natural climate, the resort efficiently heats and cools its facilities, significantly reducing our reliance on traditional energy sources. This system works by circulating water through geothermal wells which either draw heat from the ground in winter or expel heat in summer, ensuring a comfortable environment year-round. This approach lowers our carbon footprint, while supporting our commitment to eco-friendly practices.
EV Charging Stations
We are proud to support eco-friendly travel with our two complimentary EV charging stations, conveniently located at the front of the resort. We understand the importance of sustainable transportation, and by providing this service, we aim to make it easier for our guests to continue to reduce their own carbon footprint. Guests can relax and unwind within our luxurious KurSpa while knowing Sparkling Hill Resort is committed to caring for our environment.
Natural Pest Deterrents
Situated on top of Mt. Royce, surrounded by breathtaking views, natural landscapes, and beautiful hiking trails, Sparkling Hill Resort and property is home to an abundance of wildlife. To protect our guests and wildlife residents from unnecessary exposure to harsh chemicals, our resort is dedicated to using natural pest deterrents such as peppermint oils to ward off unwanted visitors.
Elimination of Single Use Plastics
In an effort to reduce our environmental impact, we have committed to eliminating single-use plastics wherever possible. Guest rooms are supplied with refillable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash containers in replacement of mini bottles. All dining outlets have adopted wooden cutlery and recyclable to-go boxes to further cut down on plastic waste. Additionally, we installed water refill stations throughout the resort to encourage guests to refill their reusable bottles instead of relying on single-use plastics. For those who do not have their own, we offer reusable bottles for purchase in our boutique.
